Setting Up PowerDot 2.0 Period Pain Relief Program  

Here are instructions to set up the PowerDot app, connect the pods, and use them.  

Setting up the PowerDot app:   

  1. Make sure your PowerDot 2.0 is fully charged. 
  2. Download the PowerDot app to set up the device.  
  3. First, open the PowerDot app (yes, it’s separate from the Therabody app) and click on the Period Pain Relief Program.  
  4. On the next screen, use the slider to select the duration of your session. Research suggests that the minimal effective time is around the 20-minute mark. Use the slider to select a treatment duration ranging anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. [2
  5. Just below the slider, you can then select the location you want to use the device. There are options depending on whether you have one pod (the UNO) or two pods (the DUO). A unique capability of the PowerDot 2.0 Duo is the ability to cover a larger surface area, so this is the best option if your pain is typically sprawling. Select the site you feel the most pain in.  
  6. The app will then ask you what your level of pain is. This information helps personalize your TENS session. Be sure to take a quick skim of the descriptions for each number and select the one that best matches your pain level. 

Place the pods, pads, and begin treatment:  

  1. Press and hold the power button on the PowerDot 2.0 pods to turn them on. The power buttons will illuminate once the pods are on.  
  2. Once the pods are on, the PowerDot app will remind you to connect the device to the app via Bluetooth for in-app treatment control.  
  3. Connect two wires to each pod via the USB connector.  
  4. Place the pads on the treatment areas (abdomen or lower back). 
  5. Connect the pod and each wire to their respective magnetic connectors (in the center of each pad). They will click into place once connected.  
  6. Once the pod is paired to the app and the pods and electrodes are placed on the pads, the app will prompt you to begin your session. Press the play button in the app to begin your treatment. Use the up and down arrows to control the treatment intensity. A countdown timer in the app will indicate the remaining time for your session.  
  7. You can pause the treatment at any point during your session by pressing the pause button. Press the play button to continue. Press the stop button to shut off the treatment.  

What Can You Expect in Your First Session? 

Once everything is securely connected to your body, hit Start Workout on the app. 

This will take you to a screen where you can increase the intensity of the stimulation throughout the session. 

You should feel a tingling sensation with the starting intensity. Increase the intensity further to where it’s tolerable but not painful. After a few minutes, you will get used to the stimulation (this is called accommodation). So, once accustomed, keep increasing the intensity throughout the session to maximize effectiveness.  

Once your session is complete, you will be asked if you feel better or feel the same (meaning you experienced no relief). You will then select what your post-session pain score is.  

How Often Can You Use It?  

There is no limit to the number of sessions you can perform in a day. So, if you complete one session and want to start another session (say, your pain isn’t resolved), you are free to do so.  

Just don’t fall asleep with the PowerDot 2.0 on. When you’re asleep, you may not feel the stimulation and can’t control it.
