Study
The study is 35 days long. During week’s 1 and 2 this is the baseline phase where you will wear your Biostrap and collect data going about your normal routine. You will run pulse reports on certain days in the morning after waking and post exercise, as well as completing a short daily survey and wearing your biostrap at night.
You will use percussive therapy on days 15 to 28 of the study. On days 15 and 22 you will use it twice, once upon waking and once pre-sleep. On days 16-20 and 23-27 you will use it 1 or 2 times - once pre-sleep everyday and also post exercise on days that you train. On days 21 and 28 you will use it just once pre-sleep.
You will use the Therabody app to guide you through the percussive therapy protocols and you must follow the routines precisely as they appear in the app. You will use the “Wellness” protocol when using percussive therapy in the morning, the “Run” or “Cycle” protocols when using it post exercise, and the “Sleep” protocol for pre-sleep.
You should use the dampener attachment for all the times you use percussive therapy with your device in the study. The dampener is the largest and softest attachment that came with your Theragun Elite and was on the device when you unboxed it. Following the study you can use whatever attachment you prefer for continued enjoyment and effectiveness of percussive therapy.
During the study when you are using percussive therapy before bed in week’s 3 and 4, please complete the Sleep protocol in the Therabody mobile application within 30 minutes of when you will be going to sleep.
For this study we ask that you would only use your Theragun when you are pushed notifications by the biostrap app (one a week in the morning, post exercise, and pre-sleep). Upon completion of the study you can use the Theragun as you wish.
During the study when you are using percussive therapy after you exercise in week’s 3 and 4, immediately after you finish exercising you will follow this routine:
  • Wait 10 minutes after completing exercise, and then perform 5-min pulse report on the biostrap app.
  • Complete the Lower Body Percussive Therapy Protocol - either the run or cycle protocol in the Therabody app based on the exercise you did.
  • Repeat 5-min pulse report immediately following.
  • Repeat 5-min pulse report 30 minutes after you completed the percussive therapy protocol.
You will only use the Theragun in the morning twice. This will occur on days 15 and 22 of the study and you will follow this routine:
  • Immediately upon waking, run a 5-min pulse report on the biostrap app
  • Complete the Wellness Percussive Therapy protocol in the Therabody app
  • Wait 5-minutes, and then repeat 5-min pulse report
The Therabody app registers when you connect your device to the app and what cards that you complete. The Biostrap app collects data as you wear it and when you run the pulse reports. Throughout the study the investigators will use this information to confirm you are completing all the different tasks that are required to be compliant.
Depending on the day of the study you will use the Theragun anywhere between 0 and 2 times. During days 1-14 and 29-35 you will not use the Theragun. On days 15 and 22 you will use it twice, once upon waking and once pre-sleep. On days 16-20 and 23-27 you will use it 1 or 2 times - once pre-sleep everyday and also post exercise on days that you train. ON days 21 and 28 you will use it just once pre-sleep.
